Gender-Affirming Conversations

Gender-Affirming Conversations supports clinicians who are relatively new to providing gender-affirming care to build their confidence interacting with trans, Two-Spirit and non-binary (TTNB) people. The course explores the practice of universal gender screening in history taking, ways to provide patients opportunities to self-identify their gender and related care needs, an overview of gender-affirming treatment options and resources where providers can access support from experienced clinicians.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Identify respectful ways to inquire about gender and provide affirming support for TTNB patients as their care needs arise
  2. Describe options available for gender-affirmation (non-medical, medical and surgical)
  3. Locate and use relevant clinical and community-facing resources to support TTNB patients as care needs arise

NOTE: If you are an employee of a health authority within British Columbia, please consider taking this course on the LearningHub LMS in order for the course to show up in your employee course history.
